We all have dreams and goals in life, but few of us meet them to the extent that we want. Why is that?

We have only 24 hours in each day, and there are a lot of things competing for our time.

I’ve heard it said that the modern world is an attention economy, and that means that we’re all in the middle of an economic meltdown. Attention is time, and our time is constantly being fought for.

The biggest obstacle to us getting what we want in our own life is the fact that we’re being distracted by things that want us to want them.

Commercials, marketing, billboards, popular culture and everything else. They all try to sell us an idea of who we should be, and that fights with who we want to be.

So, in the fight to become the person you want to be, you need to ask yourself: how bad do you want it?

  1. It is all about priorities, I myself was sitting in a queue thinking of all the things I could be doing instead of waiting in line, unfortunately the line was for the doctor and my health comes first therefore it shot to the top of the priorities list by default.

  2. Great thought Alex! We definitely have to wade through a lot of distractions in the world we live in. It seems they follow us everywhere. I can’t even get a few moments in the restroom without something buzzing or beeping. I guess you just have to figure out what is the most important thing in life and go after it like a fanatic. A while back I read Andy Stanley’s book “Choosing to Cheat.” That little book hits on the same thing you are talking about. In life you will never make everyone happy and someone will always feel cheated. Who are you going to cheat? Yourself, your spouse, your kids, your boss, your friends. Its a quick and interesting read.
