The thought of the day for today is: When you don’t have any direction, just move forward.

I think we all get too obsessed about knowing a direction. When you don’t know what to do with your life, there is a paralyzing number of choices about where to go and what to do. Often, we know that we want to grow, challenge ourselves, and become better people.

How do you know what makes you grow? Well, if you’re asking that question, then I might have a suggestion for you.

If you haven’t seen Life or Depth it’s a website that you should check out. It’s run by Amanda and Patrick, who are two fabulous people. Aside from their fabulousness (is that even a word?) they also have an interesting concept – a life changing resolution every day. Writing 366 resolutions (it’s a leap year) is a challenge in itself, but that’s a lot of chances you have to learn about yourself.

So, today at work, remember to keep moving forward. If nothing else, it sure beats being stuck someplace where you’re not happy!

  1. Thanks Alex! We think you’re pretty fabulous too. :)

  2. That last line just utterly threw me… I just did a month long secondment which I loved, absolutely loved – now I’m back doing the old job which I don’t hate but doesn’t fill me with any joy, excitement or fulfilment… I’ve got to work to my strengths…

    • Indeed, it’s a lot harder to put up with something ordinary when you get exposed to something that is a much better fit to your strengths and passions.

Is there any chance you can get a permanent secondment or a change of position?
